For the A+ Frame Cabins, we reimagined the classic A-frame typology by drawing inspiration from compact Japanese residential architecture. Our design seamlessly integrates the simplicity of the A-frame structure with the strategic introduction of multiple interconnected mezzanine spaces, creating a unique and efficient "tiny house" style cabin.
Borrowing from Japanese design principles, each cabin is a composition that optimizes space utilization and functionality. The introduction of mezzanine spaces within the confines of a compact structure allows for a dynamic layering of living areas, providing a sense of openness and versatility. This multi-level arrangement not only maximizes usable space but also introduces an element of interconnectedness, enhancing the overall living experience.
To further enhance efficiency, we strategically nestle storage and equipment spaces under, between, and above the main living areas. This creative shuffling of spaces ensures that every nook and cranny is purposefully utilized, creating a harmonious balance between practicality and aesthetic appeal. The cabin becomes a cleverly organized vessel, where every inch serves a purpose.
The “skin” ultimately turned into an “A” vessel in both section and elevation, creating a sleek and modern exterior that encapsulates the interior spaces. This triangular form not only adds a distinctive visual element but also serves a functional purpose by funneling the view outward. The cabin becomes a framed vantage point, highlighting the natural surroundings and connecting inhabitants with the beauty of their environment.
