Private Residence

Project area: 240m2

Program: Single Family Residence

Status: Confidential

In the design of this residence, we selected a design that seamlessly integrates with the natural topography of the site. The ground floor, following the primary site topography, establishes a clear axis linking the entry, living spaces, and ground floor bedrooms from North to South. An atrium space connects to the basement pool and hamam, creating a dynamic relationship between indoor and outdoor living.

To optimize the retention of existing olive trees, the ground floor is cleverly divided into two boxes linked by a library/open bar volume. This not only separates the living and private spaces but also adheres to the topography, eliminating the need for stairs on the steep site. The massing is carefully shaped to preserve the existing landscape, creating a harmonious coexistence between architecture and nature.

The second floor emerges as a singular box perpendicular to the topography, cantilevering over the ground floor. This monolithic form, juxtaposed with wood grain panels below, maximizes the North sea view for the master bedroom. The cantilever, in composition with the library space below, defines a well-appointed terrace for outdoor activities, offering a stunning panorama of the sea and framing views of the mountains to the west. With floor to ceiling sliding glass panels, the library space is fully operable, transforming and extending the space outdoors. Perfect for hosting large events like a family gathering or a private party.

Compact yet open, the pool and lounge are strategically positioned just a few steps below, maintaining a seamless connection to the surrounding landscape. Following the client's directive, the project prioritizes minimal elevation changes, ensuring accessibility from parking to pool on this challenging steep site.
